A History of Collaborative Development

File-based workflows and associated SAN infrastructures are about more than hardware, they are about more than software,
and certainly about more than the file system. Traditional industries utilizing such workflows and infrastructures like
Media & Entertainment, Oil & Gas, Healthcare, Corporate, and Government have generally been left on their own to combine
these into a robust solution at the heart of their workflows and revenue centers.
At Bright Technologies we understand shared media workflows. During the transition from traditional video-based workflows
to file-based workflows, it became obvious that traditional IT infrastructures were not capable of meeting the needs of
guaranteed delivery, low-latency file-based workflows. That realization brought about collaborative efforts between the
development team at Bright and many of the world’s top video facilities and application providers. In turn, this led to a
paradigm shift in file-handling technology.

With an informed understanding of the needs of the Media & Entertainment industry – an early adopter of file-based workflows -
and a unique knowledge of file systems and SAN hardware, our team created BrightDrive, the first SAN Server optimized
specifically for media. With robust hardware and innovative file system intelligence, BrightDrive solutions have vastly improved
the way our customers work with their data. The Bright solution eliminates unplanned downtime due to file system maintenance.
Our ongoing development continues to improve functionality and workflow efficiency with our current BrightDrive family:
Procyon, our high-availability offering, Triton, our mid-tier workhorse, and Astella, our SAN-in-a-box appliance.

Collaboration is of great value and we take every opportunity for product and feature improvement seriously.
It was through collaboration that our development team created sequence aware file management engines that maintain
file system integrity, well beyond that of traditional data management tools. By listening to the needs of our customers,
we developed DataMover with support for stereoscopic 3D workflows. It is also why DataOptimizer has been given NTFS
support for file system defragmentation.
After several metadata controller manufacturers voiced the need, our BrightClip software, the nucleus of our file system
intelligence, was released as a standalone product supporting StorNext SAN environments.

All of our solutions, our BrightDrive SAN Servers, our file management tools, and BrightClip have all been designed around
the unique challenges of file-based workflows. Collaboration has always been the key to continued development of our
products and brand. We invite you to contact us and take advantage of our discovery analysis and see if your challenge
might be the next "bright" technology.
